On The Look Out: Darkest Dungeon

Some of you may be familiar with Darkest Dungeon, I myself have been following it on and off but after seeing some great footage and reading some articles this game is definitely on my look out list.

For those of you who are a stranger to it, Darkest Dungeon is a dungeon crawler with rogue like and RPG qualities. It also contains one of my favourite kinds of systems.. the turn-based system. The clue is in the name with this game.. the atmosphere is dark, eerie and Gothic the art style is quite unique with very well created game play. I myself haven’t had a hands on experience with it but from what I have seen I am impressed. Your role is to travel ( which in the game is a side scrolling style) across this Gothic high fantasy land leading a band of followers with different skills and roles to help fight off numerous frightening foes, using deep and strategical turn based combat.

Darkest Dungeon is developed by the guys over at Red Hook Studios in Canada, the game has been in development since 2013. Judging by the looks of it the team has done a great job of creating this dark almost creepy immersive world, the detail that has gone into the tactical combat deserves a pat on the back.

Darkest Dungeon is now in Early Access on Steam, if you want a challenging RPG to sink your teeth into then this is your guy.

  1. Got this game last week, totally worth it – very heavy on atmosphere and despair, and the mechanics are solid. Also, the narrator is awesome, especially when you land a critical in a tough battle.
